Thanks to Christy and Lori at Vartanetc. Used with permission.
Setting: CIA office. Vaughn is following Haladki as he is walking through the office.
Vaughn: The DSR met with the FBI. I want to know what they told them.
Haladki: The DSR didn't tell me anything.
Vaughn: That makes no sense. You're the Interagency Liason.
Haladki: "Interagency Liason" doesn't exactly put me smack-dab in the inner circle.
Vaughn: Alright, look. You and I don't work well together, historically. We've got this juvenile animosity thing going. That's gotta change. Let's just start over.
Haladki: Hi. How are you? [Sarcastically shakes Vaughn's hand and wears phoney smile. Then frowns.] I don't know what they're planning to do to Bristow. If I were you, I'd let it go.
[Haladki turns to leave, but Vaughn still has his hand gripped. Vaughn glares at Haladki and Haladki yanks his hand free. Haladki walks away. We now see Weiss standing behind Vaughn.]
Weiss: This buddy of mine at Princeton, she actually knows Haladki and says she used to see him all the time eating lunch at the Webster Rotunda. Apparently that guy's got the table manners of a six month old.
Vaughn: I'm going to ask you a question. I need you to be honest.
Weiss: Sure.
Vaughn: Do you believe in this thing? This Prophecy? [Weiss looks away briefly.] You do, don't you?
Weiss: No. No that's ridiculous.
Vaughn: Its ridiculous but that picture looks just like her.
Weiss: Sydney Bristow's going to take down the world?
Vaughn: I know, but the DNA sequence, the heart size--I mean, they both match what Rambaldi wrote. Either this thing is completely insane, or it isn't.
Weiss: Okay, what happened? What happened? The FBI's involved?
Vaughn: Yeah, there's an FBI tribunal flying in from DC. They're going to question her and decide what their next move is.
Setting: Empty garage/warehouse in the warehouse district. Vaughn is already there and pacing as Jack arrives. Jack parks car near where Vaughn is pacing.
Vaughn: Anything?
Jack: My FBI contacts don't have access to Sydney's case. Its been classified Omega 17. What about Devlin?
Vaughn: Oh, they're not giving him clearance either. All that we know is that Sydney's being held locally being questioned by the FBI. We've gotta find out where she is.
Jack: Where she is is irrelevant. Its how long she's in custody that concerns me. Sloane wants a meeting with Sydney Tuesday morning.
Vaughn: Well, maybe the FBI won't put as much credence in Rambaldi's prophecy as DSR.
Jack: That's a miscalculation. In the current climate, the FBI's being wildly vigilant. If another government agency red-flags someone as a potential security threat, the FBI won't be so quick to let them go.
Vaughn: So you're saying that Sydney could be held long enough to blow her cover at SD-6?
Jack: Under Directive 81-A, they could conceivably hold her without trial or charges for the rest of her life.
Scene: CIA offices. Vaughn is walking through the office, being followed by his assistant. He is dictating tasks for her to work on.
Vaughn: Make sure Susan gets Donaldson's briefing on Homeland Security. And you know what? Call Josh, tell him I have to cancel lunch. I--
[Vaughn pauses, looks thoughtful, and then quickly makes his way to Weiss who is in the coffee room.]
Vaughn: Hey, what did you say about Haladki?
Weiss: [chuckling and pouring coffee] I don't think he showers.
Vaughn: That thing about your friend.
Weiss: She used to see him at lunch.
Vaughn: At the Webster Rotunda, that's what you said?
Weiss: Yeah.
Vaughn: You're sure, the Webster Rotunda at the Adams Federal Building?
Weiss: Yeah, that's what I said. Why?
Vaughn: You're not allowed at the Rotunda unless you're a ranking FBI officer.
Weiss: No way.
[Cut to Vaughn walking into Men's Room and spotting Haladki as the latter is washing his hands. Haladki starts to leave, but Vaughn his exit.]
Haladki: Hey, you know what? Excuse me!
Vaughn: You were FBI. Before you joined the Agency, you were with the Bureau.
Haladki: My history with the FBI is right on my resume. I'll give you a copy.
Vaughn: You know exactly what FBI protocol is and you know where Sydney's being held and what they're planning on doing with her.
Haladki: You have lost your mind, you know that?
Vaughn: Oh, I've lost my mind? You're the one on the witch hunt.
Haladki: Look! We decoded 47 distinct verifiable Rambaldi predictions. The guy hasn't been wrong once.
Vaughn: Where is she?
Haladki: What if he's not wrong about this one, either? What if Sydney Bristow is a threat? What if Rambaldi got it right?
[Vaughn looks thoughtful and concerned but says nothing.]
Scene: CIA offices, Vaughn's office. Vaughn is sitting at his desk studying a file on the prophecy while Weiss is also in his office, playing with a yo-yo.
Weiss: Okay, here we go. Look at this. I'm rocking the cradle [Weiss demonstrates the yo-yo trick]--look at this.
Vaughn: [Ignoring Weiss] "Unless prevented, at vulgar cost this woman will render the greatest power until utter desolation."
Weiss: C'mon, you know what? You've got to stop reading that. Seriously, you're making yourself crazy.
Vaughn: "Vulgar cost." What's "vulgar cost"?
Weiss: Michael, I'm telling you. I don't know.
Vaughn: "This woman without pretense will have had her affect never having seen the beauty of my sky behind Mount Sebacio. Perhaps a single glance would have quelled her fire."
Weiss: Shhhh. Yo-yo's sleeping. [Weiss demonstrates another yo-yo trick.]
Vaughn: "Never having seen the beauty of my sky behind Mount Sebacio." I think that's where Rambaldi was born.
Weiss: I've got an idea. Why don't we all go to Mount Sebacio, huh? Alright, here we go--around the World.
[Vaughn looks up and pauses in silence. Weiss looks at Vaughn, concerned.]
Weiss: What? What just happened?
Scene: Empty warehouse. Vaughn is already there, waiting at the top of a flight of stairs. Jack arrives.
Vaughn: Thanks for coming.
Jack: I checked with SD-6 security section. They have nothing on Sydney.
Vaughn: Look at this. [Shows Jack the report on the decoded prophecy.] There [indicating], "this woman will have had her affect never having seen the beauty of my sky behind Mount Sebacio." Now, if the FBI is going to take this prophecy so literally, then every phrase must have equal veracity.
Jack: That's right.
Vaughn: Now, according to Rambaldi, the woman in question, the subject of this prophecy will have never seen Mount Sebacio. Meaning if Sydney were to go there and see it herself--
Jack: She couldn't possibly be the woman Rambaldi was talking about.
Vaughn: That makes sense, doesn't it? I thought that made sense.
Jack: That's good, that's good. [Lifts hand to mouth, looks thoughtful.]
Vaughn: I talked to Devlin about this. He put three calls into the FBI Director. He was stone-walled.
Jack: The FBI's not in the most cooperative mood. We'll have to extract her, get her to Italy ourselves.
Vaughn: I-I know Devlin would sanction transit. I mean, we could have a jet ready in an hour.
Jack: The question is: how to find her.
Vaughn: Steven Haladki. He's CIA, works in the LA office, former FBI. I know he still has ties.
Jack: Haladki. I'll talk to him.
Vaughn: No, the problem is he's not talking.
Jack: He'll talk to me.
Setting: In front of FBI offices
Two FBI guards are escorting a handcuffed Sydney out of the FBI offices with the intention of transferring her to a safehouse. They are intercepted by a silver van. Two masked men in all black jump, with machine guns, jump out of the van, order the guards to get onto the ground, and tell Sydney to get into the van. She is helped inside the van by one of the masked men in black. As the van makes a sharp turn, Sydney is thrown to the side. One of the men helps her back into kneeling position as he takes his mask off. It's Weiss. Another of the men takes his mask off. Its Vaughn.
Vaughn: You're going to be okay.
[Weiss starts to remove Sydney's handcuffs.]
Sydney: What the hell are you doing?
Vaughn: Proving this prophecy is not about you.
[The driver of the van turns around, and we can see Jack's eyes under his black mask.]
Jack: Sydney, we'll explain everything when we get there.
Sydney: [Stunned.] Dad?
Jack: Hey, Honey.
The van pulls into the garage/main floor of a warehouse. Its parked and everyone gets out of the van. Jack, Vaughn, and Weiss quickly remove their black masks.
Vaughn: If the FBI takes this prophecy seriously, the key to your innocence will be in the second paragraph.
Jack: Rambaldi wrote that the woman in that picture will have never seen Mount Sebacio.
Vaughn: That's where you're going.
Sydney: Wait a minute!
Jack: At the very least, the FBI would have kept you in custody for months.
Vaughn: SD-6 would have investigated your disappearance. They would have found out the truth, you would have been exposed.
Jack: Your going to Mount Sebacio should give them the proof they need.
Sydney: The FBI might have let me go. All this does is make them certain that I'm guilty of something.
Jack: Sydney--
Sydney: Escaping from Federal custody and crossing the border into another county proves that I willingly acted in opposition to the American government.
Jack: It was either do nothing and get killed by SD-6 or take a risk to protect your cover.
Sydney: And now I'm a fugitive from justice.
In the background, Weiss and Vaughn are removing their black outer attire to reveal their business suits underneath. Weiss has an earpiece and is apparently listing to a police radio frequency.
Jack: Not for long. Once you get to Italy, we'll alert all agencies of our actions and your location. They'll extract you and you'll no longer be a suspect.
Sydney: You don't know that.
Jack: We will have protected a vital CIA asset. You. Your cover will have been maintained. The FBI's not going to want to make a big deal out of this. They can't afford the press.
Weiss: We've got to go.
Vaughn: I'm going to take you to the jet. You're going to have to get in the trunk.
Sydney: What if the FBI was right? What if Rambaldi was right? What if he was talking about me?
Jack: Then everything is predetermined and nothing we do makes any difference. If Rambaldi's right, there's nothing to lose.
Weiss: Seriously guys, cops are everywhere. Come on.
Jack: When you get to Italy, contact me.
Vaughn: This is so we can speak. [Hands Sydney a small microphone/speaker device.]
[Sydney gets into the trunk of Vaughn's car and he speeds away.]
Scene: Vaughn is driving while Sydney is in the trunk of his car, changing her clothes.
Vaughn: Are you all right?
Sydney: You didn't think about it. Not once. The possibility that Rambaldi could be right about me.
Vaughn: No, I didn't.
Sydney: Why not?
Vaughn: Because I believe in you. Did you think I just throw anyone in my trunk?
[Sydney smiles]
Scene changes to Haladki on the phone, having already reported to his FBI contact that he did a "stupid thing" and told Jack when the transfer would take place. He is now reporting the missing silver van and three other vehicles, giving the FBI the cars' makes and license plate numbers. Next we seen Vaughn pull into a back lot between several rundown buildings. There is a second, older car parked at the scene waiting for them. Sydney gets out of the trunk of Vaughn's car and is wearing a god-awful powder blue jogging suit and cropped curly brown haired wig.
Vaughn: Alright, you're going to take that car over there to Dosier field. There's a jet waiting to take you to Italy. Be careful.
Sydney: You too.
