1x04 A Broken Heart
Poor Weiss gets stuck in the middle of a passionate Syd-Vaughn shouting
match on the shores of Lake Overlap*. "Oh, no, the 'rents are fighting! Are
they gonna get a divorce? Who'll get custody of my yo-yo?" Sydney defaces a
church. Francie is appropriately appalled by news of the Unfortunate
Tequila Incident. See, she's not so dumb. Jack is so freaked out by the
concept of dinner that he forgets his wife looked like Lena Olin.
SlightlyUnkempt!Vaughn is late for a meeting with Syd for probably the only
time ever. OK, who thinks that she really thought he was married,
and who thinks that she was fishing for info? Cuz I'm thinking, Miss
Super-Observant Spy would've noticed the lack of a wedding ring. Vaughn is
so flummoxed by her assumption that you'd have thought she assumed that he
ate puppies, kittens and babies. Syd, I'm not sure it's polite to grin like
a loon when someone tells you that he had a huge fight with his girlfriend.
I do believe that Syd gives him the once-over as he leaves. Checking out
his ass now that she knows he's not off the market, hmm? For a spy, Sydney
is damn conspicuous when she's spying on someone. Willage feels like an
idiot; gee, I wonder why that is? Syd sends out the VaughnComfort Bat
Signal for the first time. Ladies and gentlemen, start your 'ship engines!
Vaughn mentally goes through the handler handbook for the protocol on
sobbing agents, but, dammit, they don't mention it! He really wants to hug
her, but he has to settle for making her laugh and giving her the "Buck up,
little not-a-crazy-person soldier" speech. Hmm, do you think he would have
made the "you've got my number" offer if he'd have known how freaking often
she'd use it? Aw, hell, of course he would've. Ohmigod, Syd grabs his hand!
In public! OK, people, now it's personal. I'm just gonna sit here and sigh
dreamily for a moment. Will pimps Jenny for information in the
quintessential Willage scene: he's treating Jenny like crap while eating an
apple. We can't tell if he's wearing the corduroys, though.
