1x01 Pilot: Truth Be Told
Whee! This show has Michael Vartan in it! It's gonna RULE! After Danny's
loud rendition of "Build Me Up Buttercup," Syd realizes that she'll have to
marry him, because no one else will have him. Jack welcomes Danny to the
family, Bristow-style -- in other words, with a smack-down. Will is sad
that Sydney loves somebody else; get used to it, buddy! Syd and Danny are
very happy together -- you can tell because they're suffused in warm
sunlight, even when they're indoors. But, uh-oh, she spills the beans about
the whole SD-6/"I'm a spy" thing, and since Edward Atterton isn't listed in
the opening credits, he has to die. So sad. Weep, weep, weep. Oh, well,
that just means she's now free to be handled by a certain sexy CIA agent.
Speaking of, in our first view of Vaughn, he's bringing Sydney food and
putting off work for her. Way to set the tone of the relationship early! He
seems greatly amused by her "another double agent" suspicions and tells her
that he's not trying to play her. You'll notice that he conveniently leaves
out the preposition "with." He confides that he has an "instinct" about
her. That's spy-code for "I can tell we're gonna have a lot of sexual
tension, baby."
