A few thoughts about MV, JG, actors and privacy

We don't know the details of what has gone on with MV and JG -- nor do we or anyone else have any right to do so. We believe that actors have as much of a right to keep their private lives private as anybody else and to live as they see fit. They are adults and know best what makes them happy and fulfilled. Whatever they do offscreen is none of our business, just as it is none of our business what any of the 2,100 Hos on our list do in their private lives. No part of their lives is owed to us, nor should they be expected to live by anybody's code of behavior but their own. It is not our place to judge. We just hope that people are happy -- whether it's together, apart or watching infomercials 24/7 while singing show tunes and eating spray-cheese from a can.

Though we realize that everyone will and should make their own decisions on all matters, including how they feel about MV and JG, we confess to being troubled by rushes to judgment in this matter and some of the nasty things that we have seen said about them in the past few days. Since nobody but those involved know the details, we hope that people would recognize that any assumptions they make could very well be premature, unfair and downright wrong. Actors are people, too, and they don't belong on pedestals -- nor are they somehow less deserving of basic respect than any other person. They have feelings, they do "good" things, they do "bad" things, just like everybody else. Unfortunately, they live their lives in the glare of the entertainment media, which too-often sensationalizes items and reduces complex emotions and events to titillating, 20-second soundbites -- hardly a reliable filter for the truth.

That is why we do not deal in gossip and rumors about actors' private lives on this site, and that is why we do wish MV and JG and everyone else in the cast all the happiness in the world from whatever they choose to do. They deserve to be happy, just like you do.

Now please go do something that makes you happy. And be glad that strangers aren't sitting at home passing judgment on whatever you're doing. (Unless, of course, what makes you happy is competing on "American Idol.")
