INCOMING TRANSMISSION ...

Sunday, September 19, 2004 Update by: Mel TM, Vartan Ho #13

Just in case...
If you checked the site yesterday morning, you may have missed our late update with several fantastic new promo pics of Michael from "Celebrity Poker Showdown." Scroll down and enjoy all the smiley Michael!

A "Rank" file
Today there's a little vidclip of E!'s "Rank" countdown of the sexiest men in entertainment from 2002. Michael ranked 13th in this particular countdown, and I'm glad I don't remember who any of the other 12 are because it probably would irritate me. :)

I'm still reeling from the local news video of 22 people (including the chief of police!) trapped in the middle of a bridge with flood waters swallowing up the entry and exit ramps. Thankfully they were all rescued, but if you ever needed an argument for spending the weekend inside...Be safe out there!

Late update... updated!
NBC has released some promo pictures from "Celebrity Poker Showdown," including what I think is one of the best pictures of Michael EVER! He's really working the grin. Big thanks to Kerry for the heads-up! We've added two more high-res pictures to the page linked above. Thanks to jesouhaite47 for spotting them and alerting us!

Smile, you're on Casino Camera!
The Palms Casino Hotel, the site of filming for "Celebrity Poker Showdown," has supplied a photograph of Michael taken during the event. Truthfully, it's not the best picture of Michael ever taken, but it's not even remotely as bad as Macaulay Culkin's. I don't think the lighting was particularly kind to a lot of the celebrities. But you get a really nice look at the muscles in MV's left arm. Rowr.

Talking "Photo"
Today brings the third vidclip of the "One Hour Photo" Sundance special. I really wish there were outtakes from this movie on the DVD. You KNOW Robin Williams supplies practically a disc-full of them.

Ye Olde Caption Contest
It's more than halfway through the month, so time's a-wasting to send in your entry for the September caption contest. Let's try to outdo even last month for the funny!

Our thoughts and best wishes go out to all of those affected by Hurricane Ivan. The American Red Cross is taking donations for hurricane-relief efforts. And my cats want you to know that The Humane Society also needs donations to help out animals in hurricane-hit areas.

Michael V.
Zoe, Vartan Ho #1034, and Brigitte, Vartan Ho #1708, passed on scans of a two-page spread of MV's Gap ads in the current Sports Illustrated (September 20 issue, Michael Vick cover). One of the pics is the one we've seen of him in the hooded jacket and layers, the other is new and a variation of the one where he's wearing the striped shirt. The magazine may not be available everywhere yet! Thanks so much to both of you!!

Michael Vartan is Marlon Brando
At least during rehearsal. ;) Vidclip numero deux of the "One Hour Photo" Sundance special is now online. You get interesting insights into how the actors approached the "Sy meets Will Yorkin for the first time" scene. Lots of casual Michael included!

Have a happy Friday! Tonight are the Sci Fi Channel summer finales of Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis. I don't know what I'm gonna do without them!

More Michael behind the scenes
Today we have the first of three vidclips from a Sundance special on "One Hour Photo" behind the scenes. Michael (sporting sexy stubble) talks about his acting choices in the film. As always, thanks to Lori!

In anticipation of poker to come
Phil Gordon, host of "Celebrity Poker Showdown," will be appearing on "Dennis Miller" on CNBC on Sept. 24 at 9 p.m. We're hoping Michael performed so fabulously on the show that he'll warrant a mention.

Aaaaaand I'm gonna wrap this up quickly before my DSL goes out again (is it normal to have to shove the cord into the little phone connection box and have to listen to the dial tone on my phone to make it work?!). Have a great day!

Is that Michael or Rick Springfield?
OK, this is just darn cool! Evansclan at Michael Vartan Germany and DieCousins.de got her hands on a 1988 issue of the French magazine Salut! that contains four pictures of Michael, his half-brother, Nicolas, and their cousin David Hallyday. She's graciously allowed us to mirror the pictures here. It's so funny to see young Michael with his blonder, poofy, feathered '80s hair. Hee! There are all sorts of amusing little details, such as Michael appearing to be pouring water into his wine. AND there's a picture of Michael and David playing guitar. Thanks SO much to Evansclan for sharing these!

Musical Michael
Michael playing the guitar seems to be a theme today, as we also have a vidclip of his movie "Sand" in which he does just that. It was a bit hard to find a clip where some character wasn't throwing around the f-word (allowances made for our under-age visitors), but since this one has Michael playing the guitar and is a love scene, I figure no one will miss the gritty language. ;-)

Happy Hump Day!

Premiering Michael
Thanks to the fabulous Lori at the former vartanetc.com, we've got a vidclip of the "One Hour Photo" premiere from KCAL. It features a neat little interview with Michael, as well as the rest of the cast, who try their best to explain the premise and what went into making this thriller. If you haven't seen it, a couple of scenes from the trailer are included, so you get a pretty good tease. It's really intense.

Tell the Gap again how much you love their new campaign! Might make waiting for the magazine ads to appear a little more bearable. ;) Have a good day!

Romantic MV Movies
We've got a cute little video clip of the MV "Touch Me" DVD interview for you today. I wasn't aware that even existed, so go us! ;) Hope you enjoy it, too. You can download it in zipped QuickTime or Windows Media Video format, but we recommend the former. Sounds like Michael really appreciated working on this movie. It definitely shows. One of the very best!

Coincidentally, another MV romantic movie, "It Had To Be You," will be showing on Lifetime tonight at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Thanks to Lisa, Vartan Ho #1523, at the VHoChat for the heads-up! How's that for an adorable day? Enjoy it! :)
