Drumroll, please!
To end our birthday week, we're doing something we haven't done before: a vidclip! It's MV's first scene from "The Guide" pilot. He's in all his leather-jacket-wearing glory. Huge thanks go out to Jinnie at who-i-am.com and Casey at Colorado Interlink for hosting it! Also major thanks to Tim, David and the experts at the Apple.com forums for helping me jump through the insane number of hoops involved in getting it into clippable form. Depending on what happens with the bandwidth, and if there's any interest in seeing more of it (and more of MV ;-), we may offer some more clips in the future. I hope you enjoy this one! (And "Buffy" fans, see if you recognize the guest star from Season 4 of "Buffy.")
Life before there were thousands of Vartan Hos
MV vidclips are definitely the theme of the day! Mel J passed along a link for a short KTLA interview with MV from the "13 Going on 30" premiere talking about what he was like when he was 13. The video clip is at the bottom right. The link to the video is a picture of MV at the premiere. It might take a minute to load, and you may get a strange index page -- I did! Thanks so much, Mel! (I just fixed the link, so if you got a wrong link before, it's correct now. I can only plead working on 3 hours of sleep!)

A movie star is born
The Toledo Blade featured a really positive review about "13 Going on 30" on Friday. They even put our girl on the cover of their entertainment section. It's really stunning what they write about Jen, comparing her appearance on the big screen to the "meteor strike of Julia Roberts when 'Pretty Woman' landed in theaters in 1990." Spygirl scanned it in for us, so read for yourself (there's also a transcript)!
Elektra's enemy
According to FilmForce, Typhoid Mary, a villainous character from Jennifer's new big project, has finally been cast! She will be played by 26-year-old model-actress Natassia Malthe. Can't wait to see the whole cast in action!

More Shirtless!MV
We've added the second batch of screen captures from Michael Vartan's unaired sitcom pilot "The Guide." We really hope you're enjoying these as much as we are. Finding it was like finding the Holy Grail! Unaired pilots are pretty rare to get ahold of. And this one was so cuuuuuuuuuuuute.
"Monster-in-Law" update
From a past MV project to a future one. A new co-star has been cast in "Monster-in-Law," the film he'll be shooting this summer with Jane Fonda and (sigh) Jennifer Lopez.
Et tu, Arvin?
Speaking of summer projects, Victor Garber will have a recurring role as Julius Caesar in the limited-run series "Empire" on ABC. He'll be filming in Rome -- not a bad place to be on location.

"To Wong Foo" will air on the German channel VOX this Friday, April 30, at 8:15 p.m. It will be repeated on Saturday at 2:55 p.m. Thanks to Evansclan at www.michaelvartan.de.vu for the info.
"13" will soon be going on $30 million
Final figures are in for the weekend box office, and according to Exhibitor Relations Co. Inc. and
Nielsen EDI Inc., JG's "13 Going on 30" finished a close second to Denzel Washington's "Man on Fire," taking in $21 million. ("Fire" took in $22.8 million.) Hey, if you're going to finish second, Denzel is not a bad person to be runner-up to! I also read that this is the first time that two films opened with more than $20 million in April.

MV in "The Guide" screen captures
In theme with our "What would be a birthday without presents?" week, we bring you screen captures of Michael Vartan's unaired sitcom pilot "The Guide." This show was supposed to be on ABC's schedule in 1999, but since that's run my monkeys, they never picked it up. Big thanks to Souris for making the caps possible, and to Tim for the help!

Elektra's love interest
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goran Visnjic from "ER" is in talks to star as the male lead opposite "Elektra." I don't know about you, but this sweetens my Monday even more! Let's hope this will happen, since they start shooting next week!!
This day sure feels like my birthday. Whee! Hopefully we can extend a bit of that to you! ;)

This calls for a celebration!
Happy birthday to us, happy birthday to us...Today is officially the Safe House's second birthday.
Can you believe it? We want to thank all our visitors who have stuck with us over the last two years; we hope it's
been as fun for you as it has for us. Of course, no birthday would be complete without
presents, and we'll definitely have some for you over the next week. Stay tuned!
The desk-chair critic
Well, I saw "13 Going on 30" yesterday and thought it was absolutely adorable. Shocking, I know.
If you like Jennifer Garner at all (and I'm betting most of you do), you really should go see this
movie, where she gets to be sweet, goofy, and fabulously dressed all at once. I didn't have
quite the reaction as the gals behind me, who were sobbing and heaving during the climactic scene.
My friend expressed her fervent hope that they were either 13 or 30, because we didn't find
ourselves quite so emotionally taxed. But whether or not you're a movie sobber, I highly
recommend this film!
