Syd and Vaughn are back in LA and in her apartment. Her cell phone rings and suddenly she's hearing buzzing in her apartment. They find a hidden bug in her apartment. they give it to Marshall and he remembers it from SD-6, but he has no ide who would be on the other end.
Meanhwhile "Francie" meets up with Sark- whom she's been intimate with. She asks him what she should do now that the listening device was found. They frame and kill an innocent man.
Slaone, with Kaplan, realizes that the Rambaldi device is now ready. He meets with an old friend, Kabir, who will provide him with funding if the device works. Sloane asks him to pick a target anywhere in the world and he'll prove the weapons power. The man chooses his ex-wife.
Will has his first briefing. He feels very awkward and out of place with all of these professional people around him who offer scientific and researched information. He actually gives the CIA the smartest advice, which is to check out Kabir's ex-wife. She may be willing to talk considering she doesn't get along with her ex-husband at all.
Just as the weapon is about to kill her, Sydney saves her life. But the weapon destroys dozens of people by burning them into ashes right where they stand. Sydney and Vaughn are back in LA and she's in the bathtub. Vaughn brings her a glass of wine and sits by the tub with her. They discuss the horrible things they saw. He holds her cheek.
Later, Syd is assigned to capture Kabir before Sloane is allowed to use his money. But Sydney is captured herself. Vaughn, in desperation, goes to Dixon. Dixon is the only one who knows his way around the compound Syd is being held in. Vaughn begs him to help and tells him that Syd is going to die if he doesn't. But Dixon refuses, his wife by his side. His wife threatened to leave him if he ever went back to that life. Vaughn leaves, but Dixon's wife eventually tells him to go. She knows how much Sydney means to him and if there's a chance he could save her life- do it.
Sydney is sitting in a room about to be tortured when Vaughn busts in and saves her. She asks how vaughn found her and Vaughn points to the door. Syd looks up and sees Dixon. She begins to cry in gratefulness; she knows what it must have taken for him to rescue her. They also recover the Rambaldi weapon.
Finally, Sloane looks at the statue that was a gift from Kabir. He breaks it open and we see a piece of paper. We find out that Sloane's intention this entire time wasn't to use the Rambaldi weapon for Kabir, but to get this-the final missing page of the Rambaldi manuscript.
