Double Agent

Summary:
Vaughn and Sydney stand in the middle of the SD-6 rubble, which a bit surreal. They smile remembering their kiss, but Sydney is hesitant to get into a relationship with Vaughn since he's already in a relationship with Alice. But Vaughn assures her it's over with Alice. They're interrupted by their pagers.

They arrive at the CIA to watch a live news feed of a women tied up in C-4. She's singing "Pop Goes the Weasel" and crying. Farther away we see a man in a phone booth holding a trigger and telling her not to worry. We learn that the woman is a CIA Agent, Emma Wallace. Syd mentions that she knew her.

Kendall tells Syd that she and her partner, Jim Lennox, were on a mission together to acquire knowledge on a new gene therapy program called Helix. But Jim was captured. Sydney tries to talk to the police in Berlin, but it's too late: suddenly Emma is blown up, and everyone is shocked. So Sydney is sent in to try and rescue Lennox from a facility and try to find out what they can on Helix.

Jim is rescued and debriefed. He reveals that he and Emma were getting married. He's completely heartbroken. Syd visits Lennox at the safe house where he's getting drunk and basically acting self-destructive. He kisses Sydney impulsively, who looks at him with pity after everything he's been through. He apologizes. But just then, agents arrive to take him into custody. The CIA finds a photograph that reveals Jim detonated the blast that killed Wallace from a phone booth. But the CIA learns that Jim was doubled using the gene therapy program. There's only one way to know who the real person is: an eye exam that will reveal tissues that only a double will have. Jim is given the eye exam and it's revealed he isn't the double. The double is Enzo Markovic, the scientist who developed the Helix program. While Sydney and Jim go on a mission together to destroy the Helix technology, Enzo calls the CIA claiming to be the real Jim Lennox. The ocular scan can be faked, he tells them.

Meanwhile, we see "Francie" planting a camera in Sydney's bedroom in the TV.

Syd and Jim find the Helix mainframe and Jim reads that someone else has been doubled. But it doesn't say who. Vaughn calls Sydney and tells her that the Lennox she is with may not be the real Lennox. The only way to know is to truly destroy the mainframe. The fake Lennox would die before seeing the technology die- especially because without it he'll never get his own face back. So while the 2 Lennoxes have a standoff, Sydney tells them she's going to destroy it. The fake Lennox reveals himself when he tries to stop Sydney. The real Jim kills him. Unfortunately, because the Helix mainframe was destroyed, the CIA is unaware of who the other double is: Francie.

Later, Sydney has Vaughn over for dinner. They're drinking wine and talking. While cooking Vaughn grabs her arm and kisses her passionately. He tells her they can eat later. She smiles as they go off to the bedroom. They begin undressing and they lay down on the bed.

Unbeknownst to them, "Francie" is watching them through her new Spy-Cam.
