Ted Casablanca's The Awful Truth
By Cristina Gibson
Royal Bust!
It was a tale of two hotties Thursday night at the Style Lounge Celebrity Poker Tournament. The pre-Emmy event, sponsored by UltimateBet.com, was held at a posh pad so high in the Hollywood Hills I nearly got a nosebleed upon arrival. Jack Osbourne and Bijou Phillips sidled up to the poker tables to place their bets, while I hit my own personal jackpot when I spotted Michael Vartan at the bar.
Looking sexier than ever despite his low-key duds, Mikey was charming as we chatted about his Emmy-night plans. "I might hit some of the parties," he mused. "But if you're not nominated, it's really not that big of a deal." He also told yours truly that he just finished a film, so we can look forward to seeing his fine face on the big screen. Love it!

The Hot Ticket: ET/People Magazine's Emmy After Party
By Jenny Peters
Los Angeles - When will overdressed celebrities and other Hollywood types stand in long lines to get into a party? When it's the Entertainment Tonight/People Magazine's 10th Annual Emmy After Party with a private Prince concert on the slate, that's when. For some, the Sunday evening wait to get into the Mondrian Hotel's Asia de Cuba restaurant and outdoor space on Sunset Boulevard was up to an hour; for others, they never got in, as the fire marshal closed the doors before Prince even hit the stage.
Plenty of gorgeous types did make it inside in time, from Tyra Banks, who changed from her black Georges Chakra show gown into a cream satin stunner, to Eva Longoria, who sported the best accessory a woman could want, pro basketball player Tony Parker. Other high-profile couples on the inside for the heart-stoppingly fantastic concert were Lisa Rinna and Harry Hamlin, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ross McCall, Jenna and Bodhi Elfman, and newly engaged Brooke Burke and David Charvet.
Once inside, guests including Felicity Huffman, Tim Daly, Khandi Alexander, Joely Fisher, and Tichina Arnold were treated to groaning tables of Asia de Cuba's famous fare (tuna tartare to die for!), along with a room filled with Haagen-Dazs ice cream, and a Maybelline makeup center, where hordes of women stood in yet another long line to collect an overflowing bag of makeup products.
Spotted in the crush around the stage, which had replaced the swimming pool normally on the outside deck, were Lauren Holly, Michael Vartan, Hill Harper, Gary Cole, Daphne Zuniga, and Alfre Woodard, who came Emmy empty-handed despite her double nomination. Even the older Hollywood set came out in droves, from Cloris Leachman to Joan Collins to Jon Voight; it seems that Prince has fans of every generation.

Spywitness The Emmy Awards: So Many Parties, So Little Time
By Jenny Peters and Joel Stratte-McClure
The hottest after-party ticket was definitely the ET/People magazine party at the Mondrian Hotel. Celebs and civilians alike stood in long lines just to get in the door, and the fire marshal closed it down way before everyone who was anyone made it in.
''Desperate Housewives'' stars Eva Longoria (with Tony Parker in tow) and Felicity Huffman got in early, but Andrea Bowen had to play the dreaded ''Don't you know who I am?'' card (''I hate doing that!'' she grimaced) in order to get inside in time to see Prince take the stage and blow away the screaming, tambourine-banging crowd.
Michael Vartan, Tyra Banks, Joely Fisher, Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna, Jon Voight, Joan Collins, Alfre Woodard, Tim Daly, Bahar Soomekh, Lauren Holly and winner Brian Grazer (for producing ''24'') made the scene, rockin' out to Prince's inspired set, filling bags with Maybelline swag and eventually staggering home under the weight of the giant Cole Haan duffel goodie bag. Which everyone will be declaring on their income tax, of course.

Who's News
By Lorrie Lynch
Is Michael Vartan dating anyone? And is he working on anything now that "Alias" is over? -- Kayla Schmidt, Troy, Mich.
Asked if he's in a relationship, Vartan teases, "I am, with a four-legged creature." She's a chocolate Lab. "I'm just thankful she allows me to live in the house." Vartan, 37, has an action movie, "Rogue," due next year. He plays a travel writer who becomes a reluctant hero as tourists are menaced by a large crocodile. Real crocs nosed around set. "The reactions we have being scared are natural. There was not much acting involved."

Hollywood Party Girl: When the Kiddies Are King, Hollywood's Klieg-Light Crew Kicks in with All Their Might
By Lara Morgenson
Carousels, face-painting and Michael Vartan? That's just the icing on the cupcake at the Time for Heroes Celebrity Carnival, an adorable event that raises millions for the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
...
Scene Stealer: "Guess where I am," squeals a teenybopper into her cell. "In line to get my photo taken with Michael Vartan!" The appearance of the cargo pants-clad Vartan has caused the line for the Rubber Duck Dash to expand with teenage girls and young moms holding their none-the-wiser children--all waiting for a photo op and autograph. But ever the modest man, Michael plays it cool when I point out the sudden popularity of his booth. "It's because the temperature is rising, and this is the only booth that has water," he insists, with a smile that definitely raises my temp. "I'm also teamed with one of the legends of the NHL, Luc Robitaille." And then he shatters my dream of making him mine. "I'm actually going to ask Luc to marry me after this over," the hockey fan deadpans. I'm sure they'll live happily ever after.

The Awful Truth: The Tricky Troika Eyes Have It
By Ted Casablanca
Michael Vartan, front row at the Dodgers game. When they put him on
DodgerVision, everyone cheered--especially the female fans, natch.
But when Mikey turned his baseball cap around to reveal a Mets logo,
the crowd started booing. "God, he is gorgeous with his stubble and
all," breathed my smitten-sports-fan compadre, who was lucky enough
to be within kissed-cheek space of the hunk. Another cheesy chica was
tryin' oh so hard to flirt with Mike, and his buds were diggin' the
attention, hoping they could get some, too. Alas, didn't work. M.V.,
in spite of the hormonal warfare going down, was more focused on the
game.

Summer Loving
Novelist Carly Phillips' latest will steam up your reading
by Heather Salerno
In many ways, Karen Drogin is your typical Westchester mom. Two daughters, a dog, a college sweetheart hubby. A spacious home in Purchase and a Lexus SUV.
But between her oldest child's lacrosse games and checking out her favorite ABC soap operas, Drogin will pull her Apple laptop towards her.
That's when Carly Phillips takes over.
You see, Phillips is Drogin's pen name, the one she uses to scribble her long list of best-selling romance novels.
...
A self-described TV addict, Drogin even works while watching her favorite shows, including "Grey's Anatomy" and the recently-ended "Alias."
After all, all those good-looking guys onscreen can provide divine inspiration for a romance writer.
"Patrick Dempsey, Michael Vartan?" she says. "Yeah, that works for me."

Thanks to Musicat for the article!
She is asked "Why were Sydney and Vaughn such a compelling couple?" Her answer: "There's nothing more tantalizing to watch than impossible love. Also, Michael (Vartan, who played Vaughn) is just so lovable and brought so much heart to that role. If he wanted Sydney, you wanted him to have Sydney."

'Hill' Climber
Radha Mitchell talks about why her new movie, ''Silent Hill,'' is better -- and scarier -- than your typical horror flick
by Carrie Bell
What's next for you?
I just finished a couple of films † one in Australia called Rogue. It's another genre piece. It's about a crocodile that gets angry and seeks revenge. It was a really cool movie to work on, and it has Michael Vartan [Alias] in it. He's hunky. And it is directed by the guy who did Wolf Creek [Greg McLean]. He's a genius as well. There hasn't been a man-eating animal film in a while.
