'Alias' Actor Vartan Gets Hitched to 'Jolene'

Joined by Donald Sutherland, Denise Richards and Dermot Mulroney

SPOILERS!

Michael Vartan, who trotted the globe on "Alias" spy missions, will keep his journeys within the U.S. for his latest project.

Based on a story by E.L. Doctorow, the indie film "Jolene" revolves around the cross-country adventures of the titular young woman (newcomer Jessica Chastain) over the course of ten years. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Vartan will play the wealthy Brad, a Texan fundamentalist who marries Jolene.

Dermot Mulroney will give Brad a run for his money as Uncle Phil, who steals the teenage bride away from his nephew. Brad has other problems though when his other wife Marin (Denise Richards) shows up to reclaim him. Donald Sutherland also stars as Sal, an ex-mobster in Las Vegas.

Vartan's big-screen credits include "Never Been Kissed," "One Hour Photo," "Monster-in-Law" and the upcoming "Rogue." Mulroney was last seen in "The Family Stone" and has wrapped shooting on "Georgia Rule" and "Zodiac." Richards has some indie cred with her recent "Edmond," while Sutherland starred in the horror flick "An American Haunting" and was seen on "Commander In Chief."
