Mr. Television: Season's Greetings

By Marc Berman

Well my friends, the wait is over. After a summer chock-full of absolute garbage on the broadcast networks (The Ex-Wives Club and Fast, Cars & Superstars on ABC, Fox's On the Lot and Pirate Master on CBS…I can go on and on), I am happy—ecstatic, actually—to report that the new season is finally here.

While I don't necessarily see anything of a breakout nature á la recent hits Desperate Housewives, Lost and Ugly Betty, there are a number of new shows that look promising. So, without further ado, here are some recommendations for your consideration.

...

Since I am a sucker for any relationship drama, here's one I recommend: ABC's Big Shots, the story of four successful male friends at the top of their game who support each other through the good and the bad. It fits well out of Grey's Anatomy on Thursday, and is a welcome alternative to two tired competing series: CBS' Without a Trace and NBC's ER.
