Celebs rush to the Blackberry Curve launch party

By Jenny Peters

"I love my Blackberry, can't live without it."

So said Ludacris as he stepped into the packed elevator (Michael Vartan was squished in there, too) heading up to the ForbesLife Penthouse at the Beverly Wilshire on Thursday night, where the new Blackberry Curve was being dished out to a sea of text-happy celebrities.

Even soon-to-be jailbird Paris Hilton set aside her Buddhist prayers to get her hands on the new device; she sent sister Nicky down the red carpet to field questions, posing for pics but refusing to talk. Nicky called Paris' prison sentence for drunk driving/driving without a license "absurd," then they joined Jessica Alba, Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross, and Michelle Rodriguez (who's had her own run-ins with the law over drunk driving) at the party, where Blackberry-infused champagne flowed freely.

Hopefully the girls had a designated driver waiting outside.

The "Entourage" boys were out in force -- Adrian Grenier, Kevin Connolly and Jeremy Piven joined the center-hall crush, where famous faces patiently stood in line to receive their new AT&T-powered device. We spotted Apolo Anton Ohno, Clifton Collins Jr., Mario Lopez, Michael Chiklis, Leslie Bibb, Giovanni Ribisi and Star Jones, as well as Chris Evans, Katharine McPhee, Mos Def, Fred Willard, Freddy Rodriguez, Donal Logue and Elton Brand.

Even non-partier Donald Sutherland turned up with his strikingly handsome (and tall) son Rossif, another actor in that famous family who is best known for his stint on "ER."

So why did the legendary actor make such a rare public appearance?

"I'm Canadian, and so is the company that makes Blackberries," he grinned, pulling his earlier-generation device out of his pocket. "And it's time for a new one!"
