Page Six: Stars Cut Harvey Down To Size
By Richard Johnson, With Paula Froelich and Chris Wilson
HARVEY Weinstein, the tough-as-nails movie mogul, may have finally met his match in Dolly Parton.
The tiny but top-heavy country/western queen headlined Harvey and Bob Weinstein's annual pre-Oscar bash. Dolly, accompanying herself on guitar, sang the Oscar-nominated song she wrote for "Transamerica." "Little did I know how much work it would be," Parton told the crowd at the Pacific Design Center. "Harvey Weinstein has worked my country butt off."
Weinstein is known for getting actors to work hard to promote their pictures. "Harvey, I'm not going to run for president, but if I did, I would want you for my campaign manager," Parton said. "I think we've had enough boobs in the White House."
Then Felicity Huffman and Judi Dench read off a Top 10 list of "Things You Will Never Hear the Weinstein Brothers Say at the Oscars," which included, "If we win, we're going to Disneyland "I don't care if we win an Oscar, it's just an honor to be nominated and, "Don't say this too loud because Page Six is here, but I really love being a bold-face name." Laughing heartily were George Clooney, Jessica Alba, Michael Vartan, George Lucas, Sienna Miller and late arrivals Scarlett Johansson and Josh Hartnett, who stars in the Weinsteins' upcoming "Lucky Number Slevin."
Meanwhile, Clooney seems to be a little over himself. "This has been an unbelievable time, but all of the attention gets a little embarrassing. But if you can't enjoy this time in your life, then why is anyone in this business?" he told a pal at the Weinstein bash. After someone expressed sympathy that he didn't win anything at the Independent Spirit Awards, Clooney said, "Sorry? I had a great year. People are talking about my films that are important to me."
Guests ribbed William H. Macy, "You should be nominated for best supporting husband" - to which Macy, who's married to Felicity Huffman, joked," "My daughters can't wait to have their mom back." Diane Kruger, nominated for Best Foreign Language film for her role in "Joyeux Noel," in a Chanel dress, commented, "I am so lucky. I have only been a working actress for four years and already so much has happened to me." Kruger, who lives most of the year in Paris, added, "I don't come to Los Angeles very often, and this is my first Oscar nomination, so it is very exciting for me."
