Born in the USA

January 15, 2006

MV on radio program "Born in the USA"

Thanks to Janine for the recap!

Just wanted to let you know I heard Michael on a program called "Born in the USA" last night on Melbourne radio station SEN 1116 AM. It is a sports radio station and in this show from 10pm to midnight they discuss American sports - NFL, NBA, NHL. Michael apparently has become a huge fan of it during his stay in Melbourne and spoke to the hosts as a guest (by phone) for about 15 minutes last night at just after 11.30pm (Sunday night).

Michael talked about loving it in Australia but was really missing not being able to see NHL games (we have cable over here but none of them cover the NHL this year) especially when his LA Kings are doing so well. He said he was on the internet a lot listening to live games. Michael discussed working on Rogue and Alias, and compared working on films to a TV series.

Michael said he was in Melbourne filming Rogue and the shoot was pretty much on schedule and filming would probably wrap up about mid February. He did say when he is in a film it's like being away in a cocoon for 3 months as you have to take yourself away from your everyday life at home for such a long period of time. He also talked about shooting the ad for the Stanley Cup a couple of years ago and the rest was about all the different sports.

He also discussed the NFL playoffs - he had managed to see one of the games last week on Fox Sports (we get your Sunday night games on Monday morning in Australia) and that it was weird watching Sunday night football on a Monday morning. It was a terrific interview - he came across as a regular nice guy who is a huge fan of many sports.

I only heard the hosts announce that he was going to on the show a couple of minutes beforehand so was unable to record. Sorry about that.
