Alias action
by Bugs Online
NOW some of us had to wait a little longer to watch the second season of Alias. But after waiting patiently while Astro subscribers talked about each episode (and gave away some nice twists!), Alias finally returned to free TV last month.
Looking at Jennifer Garner’s Sydney Bristow, we realise all over again just how uniquely beautiful this actress is. Although some make fun of the fact that Bristow seems to have only one expression – a look that’s full of angst, and with pouting lips – she still looks good fighting the baddies or doing those athletic manouevres.
Of course, we’d already figured that Michael Vartan’s Michael Vaughn didn’t die at the end of the first season, but it is still a relief to see him alive, even if only for him to continue looking forlornly at Bristow. Thankfully, his life does get a little more exciting when he finally gets to go on field assignments.
At the same time, we became conscious of how left behind we bugs are when we learned that the third season of Alias has almost come to an end in the United States. Yielding to our masochistic side, we started reading the incriminating plots regarding the relationship between Vaughn and Bristow (ayoyo!). There are also some cool character developments for Will Tippin (Bradley Cooper) and Jack Bristow (Victor Garber).
The first fansite we visited has plenty of latest updates, all the articles written on the cast and the show, a long synopsis of each episode and nice publicity shots and screen captures. Simply called Alias, it is located at www.dearsally.org/alias/index.html. There is one click button that reads: “Quote of the Week: Michael Vartan” that we just couldn’t resist. And for our effort we get this quote from Vartan on the status of his relationship with Garner: “She’s my girlfriend. End of story.”
The man doesn’t mince his words, eh? This quote brought back the initial shock when we first heard about Garner’s break-up with her then-husband Scott Foley, with no reasons for the break-up.
Actually there are some nice pictures of Garner with Foley at this site, but curiously though whenever we click on Garner and Vartan’s publicity pictures, we arrive at a dead end. We are rerouted to either another picture or just an apology page.
Apparently when news of them going out first came out, the official site pulled out all of the pictures from its site. Well, the couple has gone public now and let us just add that the two make a very handsome couple.
The Alias official site (www.abc.go.com/primetime/alias/intro/indexmain.html) isn’t as impressive as we thought it would be. Sure there are some cool Alias wallpapers, Alias merchandise like T-shirts and collectibles, and even an online game called 3D Alias Underground game, but sadly, the site is lacking of any personal comments that make reading a fansite fantastic.
This official site can be dismissed as a professional base to place information about the show – upcoming episodes, that sort of thing.
Although Alias: Complete Episode and Character Guide (alias.energy51.com) turned out to be a somewhat disappointing site, there are some nice links provided here and the synopses is okay too.
An interesting fact we discovered is how much fan fiction there is on the character of Sydney Bristow. Since we are supporters of Bristow and Vaughn, we made a very long stop at Allies:Syd/Vaughn Fanfic (http://alias-media.com/allies/index.php). The fan fiction categories are divided into three – Syd/Vaughn Romance, which has a total of 75 stories; Syd/Vaughn Angst features 91 stories, and 11 stories in the Syd/Vaughn Miscellaneous. You can read the story either by its category or by the author’s name.
If you have your own Syd/Vaughn story you want to share with other readers, just go ahead and register for an account. It’s as simple as that. At least in this realm, something actually happens between Sydney and Vaughn ... sigh.
Another site to go for more stories is The Alias Fan Fiction Archive(www.geocities.com/aliasfiction/main.html) that features the word, “Sometimes the truth hurts” at the home page. Unfortunately, this site also states that its last update was in the year 2002.
Now if you can’t wait to find out what’s going to happen or if you just want to shut up your colleagues who keep accidentally revealing plot lines then you know what to do.
