Fan recaps of "Freeze the Disease" hockey game
Hey guys, I just came back from the hockey game. Michael Vartan was there....missed plenty of his practice shots and hit the glass but he was still hot. Wearing a navy blueish jersey.
3 jerseys were auctioned @ the event. 2 worn and 1 not. One of the jerseys was a replica of what he was wearing at the event. The other two were red, one plain colored and the other with design on the front.
I was sitting with my friend Sin and we were quite giddy ourselves. They were going into the boxy thingy [excuse my lack of hockey terminology, I don't watch hockey] and her sister called his name and he smiled and say hey [Can you say heaven?!]
At the end of the players warm-up some of them would throw pucks at audience [not safe I say but that doesn't matter] Why you ask? Michael Vartan threw one of the pucks as well [which I caught, go meeh! sorry for bragging]
Michael's playing was basic, not bad, still hot as ever. When he went to go take a penalty shot and the announcer annouced that he was going for the shot all the girls yelled his name [i, myself one of the girls shouting like a maniac].
Unfortunately though, during the second half of the game michael had left apparently for some "other plans"
That's my hockey xperience! Totally hope he does it next year!!!!

I was at freeze the disease hockey game with a friend, and michael did show up, he even had to buy a new helmet for his self-proclaimed big head. Unfortunately, he left at half time, many fans were disapointed. But he did show, he didn't make any goals, unfortunately. The score ended up tied. He took a penalty shot and missed, the other team's goalie was really good. In the silent auction, he had three signed jerseys, two went for $200, and one for $400. I got one, it was awesome to be there.

I wrangled seats in the front row overlooking the part of the ice Michael's team (Because it was Michael's Team vs. The Other Team, at least in my mind) warmed up on and it was spectacular. He was literally only a few yards away smiling and sweating and skating and just looking all kinds of hot. I spent most of the practice session clicking away with my digital camera trying to get some good shots but it wasn't easy. First of all, Michael can move it.
I'm no expert but I was struck by his speed and grace. He seemed extremely relaxed and comfortable moving around on the ice and he'd even throw in little moves every now and then. Second of all, there was a net in front of the stands to catch any stray pucks that I had to take pics through. Personally I would've risked a puck to the face for an unobstructed view of Michael but they didn't ask me. He was however kind enough not to wear his face mask. Of course part of me was thinking, "Not the face!" while the other was rather jazzed that I could actually see him. It was quite the dichotomy.
In between the picture taking I'd watch him and he was cracking me up. He was like a little kid that couldn't sit still out there. He was either adjusting his gear (Hee!) or wiping the sweat off his face or playing with his stick (Hee!) or chatting up some of the other guys. Seriously I hardly ever saw him just stand still. Even during practice the other players would take breaks and stand around and talk or whatever but he would just go in for shot after shot. And he was constantly smiling. You could tell he was
having a great time.
But my favorite was when he was taking a shot or trying to make a play. Then he'd get all intense and sometimes he'd even stick his tongue out in concentration. (Fangirl moment: The Tongue!!!) And when he'd miss a shot he'd skate away muttering to himself. It was soooo cute. And I was dying when his team missed a penalty shot and he threw up his hands and plopped down on the ice. He can be such a dork.
In fact, all the players seemed to be in a really good mood. They joked and trash talked and were obviously enjoying themselves. It made for a great atmosphere. It also helped that a sizable majority of the people there were Michael fans, including a few whom I got to meet and chat with. It's always fun having someone to go fangirl with you. There aren't too many people that understand why it's exciting when Michael would take off his gloves and
reveal... The Hands! Or why you're willing to rush downstairs after seeing a couple other players milling around just on the off chance that HE might be down there.
Unfortunately Michael couldn't stay for the second half but as a Kings fan it was still fun to see guys like McSorley, Taylor, and Fox all playing together so I was able to enjoy the rest of the game. To be honest, I can't remember what happened game-wise during the first half because Michael wasa bit of a distraction. ;) But the action in the second half was good. The game actually ended in a tie, 9-9, with the teams trading off goals in the final minutes.
So it was definitely a worthwhile experience and I'd do it again in a second.
