Sydney's mother keeps telling her, "Truth takes time." Well, time's up in Alias' season finale, when Irina finally reveals the truth of her motivations.

"There is a climatic moment that explains what her mom has truly been up to, which has been a mystery throughout the year," previews executive producer John Eisendrath. "We get Irina's version of the truth, and Sydney has to decide whether or not to accept it."

That is not the only relationship undergoing serious change- Sydney's love affair with Vaughn isn't on solid ground, either. "We shake things up quite dramatically, which will leave people anxious about what their future is," notes Eisendrath.

Sydney also starts questioning the identity of her best pal, Will, who is arrested for espionage. "Will is going to discover that his girlfriend is not who he thinks she is," Eisendrath adds. "Francie becomes aware of his pursuit, and ultimately, that comes to a head."

Meanwhile, Sloane tries to lue Jack to the dark side and kicks off his evil new plan. " He will become increasingly powerful," states Eisendrath. "There are certain things he does in the finale that only enhance Sydney's desire to apprehend him."

What about the rumors that someone will die in the finale? "I wouldn't want to confirm them, and I wouldn't want to squelch them," teases Eisendrath.

In true Alias form, expect the unexpected. "We have an added twist at the end of this year's finale that will be even more surprising than last year's," the exec promises. "When Sydney's mother revealed herself [last year] it seemed appropriate and a great moment at the end. I don't believe the end of this year will be something that anyone will have anticipated. It will be 'Did they really do that?' "
