TV Gal Gets Squeamish
by Amy Amatangelo, Zap2it, TV News
However, the most innovative of love triangles is playing out between Sydney, Vaughn and the CIA on "Alias." The show has smartly placed Will back into the "best friend" category of Sydney's life and begun to develop a friendship between Vaughn and Will. The only reason Sydney and Vaughn can't be together is because of their jobs (it's the classic "not being able to be seen in public" problem). Yet, how much longer can they smile and longingly gaze at each other before they succumb to their smoldering passion? I don't know about you, but my heart skipped a beat when Vaughn said to Sydney, "You talk in your sleep." Certainly, even if "Alias" hasn't decided to put those two together, the ABC promo department sure has. They are promoting Sunday's episode (Sunday, 9 p.m.) as Sydney risking everything for the man she loves.
I'm thinking you all must have been very good students in high school. Two weeks ago I asked you why you're not watching "Alias" and you told me. Answers varied from it's too confusing to catch on to now to I'm boycotting ABC, from the same thing happens every episode to I watched it and didn't like it (I don't even like to think about that excuse). While it's true that Sydney gets all gussied up to go undercover every episode, the overall story line is always pushing forward. We've learned that Jack programmed his daughter to be a spy, he almost went to jail (yet no one seems upset that last season he killed Haldacki. Discuss.), Sydney's mom was given the death penalty, Vaughn has been given a deadly virus, Sloane's wife (who he thought he killed) is possibly still alive, and Francie still doesn't have a decent story line. Also, what exactly was injected into Sloane's neck? As long as you don't try to throw logic into the mix (a lot has happened in the five weeks, and wouldn't SD-6 catch on to the fact that Sydney and her father always talk with that super-spy pen out?), "Alias" is a exhilarating thrill ride.
