Show business before pleasure

"Alias" co-star Michael Vartan is single and very much available - and is afraid that's the way it's going to be for a while. The handsome 33 year old actor complains his personal life "is boring and painfully dull." He blames it on geography. "It's hard to become involved with a woman in Hollywood," he says. "So many of them come here with an agenda to make it in show business and when you meet them there's something going on in the back of their minds. Not that I'm that famous, but you feel it's a matter of their thinking, 'Oh you're in the business.' And you feel like you should say, "Would you be interested in me if I were a butcher or a clerk?'" Vartan says he hasn't given up hope. "I did have a girlfriend out here for a very long time-and I might be lucky again. Someday."
