PRODUCTION HAS BEGUN IN LOS ANGELES ON SECOND SEASON EPISODES OF THE AWARD WINNING SPY DRAMA "ALIAS," AIRING SUNDAYS ON ABC

"Alias," which has been nominated for 11 Emmy awards -- including Outstanding Lead Actress for Jennifer Garner, Outstanding Supporting Actor for Victor Garber and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for series creator and executive producer J.J. Abrams -- and which earned a Golden Globe Award for Ms. Garner for her role in the series and the People's Choice Award for Favorite New Drama, has begun production on second season episodes in Los Angeles. "Alias" airs SUNDAYS (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network.

Traveling around the world. Fighting with the bad guys. Leading a double life. Wrestling with her inner demons. For grad student Sydney Bristow (Ms. Garner), this is a typical day in her life at her not-so- typical after-school job as an agent for SD-6, a supposed black-ops division of the CIA.

Not knowing the outcome of Vaughn's (Michael Vartan) fate since his watery encounter, Sydney's world begins to take an even darker turn when her long-lost mother (Lena Olin) – the leader of a rogue organization obsessed with collecting and piecing together a mysterious Rambaldi device -- comes back into the picture with an agenda that will place her daughter's life in jeopardy. And Mr. Sark (David Anders), a young and wildly ambitious freelancer whose close alliance with "The Man" wreaked havoc on SD-6, also promises to be a strong presence in the spy universe.

As for Jack (Garber), while he continues to adapt to his role as a father, his life is thrown into turmoil as old wounds are opened with the unexpected re-emergence of his supposedly deceased wife.

Complicating matters further is Sydney's SD-6 partner and friend, Dixon (Carl Lumbly), whose suspicions about her activities threaten their relationship and make him question where her true allegiances lie.

Within SD-6, Arvin Sloane (Ron Rifkin), now a full partner in the malevolent Alliance of Twelve, finds himself faced with the burdens inherent with his advanced position; and Marshall (Kevin Weisman), SD- 6's brilliant yet socially inept gadget maker, seeks to make his greatest creation ever.

Meanwhile Sydney's friend Will (Bradley Cooper) has been inadvertently sucked into her world and becomes reluctantly involved in it, while roommate Francie (Merrin Dungey), who's putting together her dream of opening a restaurant, is unaware of Sydney's true identity – but for how long?

"Alias" stars Jennifer Garner as Sydney Bristow, Victor Garber as Jack Bristow, Ron Rifkin as Arvin Sloane, Michael Vartan as Michael Vaughn, Lena Olin as Irina Derevko, Bradley Cooper as Will Tippin, Merrin Dungey as Francie Calfo, Carl Lumbly as Marcus Dixon, Kevin Weisman as Marshall Flinkman and David Anders as Mr. Sark.

"Alias" was created by J.J. Abrams, who executive-produces the series along with John Eisendrath and Ken Olin. The series, which is filmed in Los Angeles and premiered on September 30, 2001, is from Touchstone Television.
