'Alias' star punches Palumbo ticket

From staff reports

Not every state legislative candidate can get a Golden Globe-winning actress to make a pitch for him on television, but Corey Palumbo can.

Of course, he did have the good fortune to be a friend of Jennifer Garner long before she became the star of the hit ABC-TV show, "Alias."

Garner, who also was nominated for an Emmy, has recorded 26 seconds of a 30- second commercial that Palumbo plans to start running next Friday, alternating with another campaign spot for the 30th House district. Altogether, the Democrat has bought $11,000 of TV time on both broadcast and cable channels during the last 10 days leading up to the Nov. 5 election.

"I don't know what kind of an effect it will have," Palumbo said of the Garner ad, but he's very thankful she took the time to record it. Palumbo and Garner were both members of the Class of 1990 at George Washington High School.
