ABC Schedules Fall Premieres

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - ABC has its work cut out this fall, as it tries to rebuild from a disastrous 2001-02 season in which the decline of one-time ratings giant "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire" exposed a weak lineup and led to a ratings freefall.

Still, the network is confident it's headed in the right direction with a lineup that includes seven new series and returns to what once made ABC strong -- family-friendly comedies early in primetime, followed by a mix of drama, comedy and newsmagazines in later hours.

The network also hopes to boost "The Drew Carey Show" by returning the focus to character-based humor and placing the show in front of "Monday Night Football."

Below is ABC's premiere schedule (all times Eastern): (snip)
Sunday, Sept. 29
7 p.m. "The Wonderful World of Disney" -- "Toy Story 2"
9 p.m. "Alias"
10 p.m. "The Practice"
