Fan recap: Jennifer Garner at Denison University

By Nancy

Okay, so sometimes living where I do is a good thing. Not very often, but tonight it was. I live in the sticks in Ohio, but a mere 10 minutes from Denison University, where Jennifer graduated and was speaking tonight. Complete with husband Scott Foley in the front row. And her parents, too!!!

She spoke and then answered a bunch of questions, and then was out in a flash. Nobody got a chance to actually meet her or Scott, which was kind of a bummer, but I know where they're staying, so I could go stake out the hotel! LOL (I actually went there afterward, but just drove around the parking lot and left)

There's one thing I can't say cause she said it, automatically covered her mouth and said she just got herself in trouble in 10 kinds of ways, and later said 'don't put that on the internet,' so I'll be kind and not. (Kind to her, not to you guys...sorry!)

She spoke a line "Hurry, hurry, this man is hurt!" in Chinese and Japanese, and then a girl from Tokyo said that her Japanese was good. Jennifer looked very flattered.

Someone asked who was her favorite on-screen kiss, and she went "There was this kiss on Felicity..." and then Scott went "Tell the truth!" and she went on to tell exactly how uncomfortable the kiss had been last season when she was on again. She then said that it was a fun part of the job, and grinned and said "Leo was good..."

A lot of the stuff in her speech and quite a few of the questions were about school stuff, and auditioning and stuff. She had auditioned for a recurring role on TWW a couple years ago and was absolutely crushed when she didn't get it.

She talked about having a baby one day, saying "I have to have a baby sometime!" A woman asked what they would do if they were still doing Alias, and Jennifer said that it's not really a job where you can work around a pregnancy, but if her ovaries start screaming (yes, her words) then she'll have to go to the producers and say they need to work something out.

Someone commented on how much they liked Sydney and Vaughn, and she smiled and looked to the other side for the next question (she has to be the cutest thing alive).

She talked about how Ron Rifkin was starring in the first Broadway play she was a part of and how she watched him every day in awe. She said she wants to be remembered for her scenes with Victor Garber and Ron Rifkin. She never wanted to do television or movies. She wanted to do Shakespeare, Ibsen, serious stuff.

She said that Ben Affleck is great to work with and works insanely hard. They did all their fight scenes in Daredevil (which opens Valentine's Day...her plug as well).

She said how much she likes Carl Lumley (I think I misspelled that), and that they're really close because he's usually the only one w/ her when she's doing the mission work.

I never did get out of the chair to ask a question myself (and I'm kicking myself for it now). I probably would have asked something stupid like "Is Michael Vartan as hot in real life as he is on screen?" And then had to have added "Because Scott sure is!"

I'm sure she said a million other things which are floating freely around my head right now, but I think that's enough to go on.
