Transcript of ABC 7 Los Angeles News Coverage of Alias: Declassified book signing at the Grove

Thanks to Lindie, Vartan Ho #426, for the transcript! :)

Aired: Eyewitness News at 11, on entertainment segment Hollywood Wrap

In Studio:

George Pennachio, of ABC 7: The Cast of Alias together tonight, Sharpies in hand, to sign something new for their fans. It’s the show’s official companion book, Alias: Declassified. Call it one wigged out affair.

Fairfax District: (note: The Grove is at the corner of Fairfax and 4th, hence the Fairfax District)
(Large group of fans waiting in line sporting Red Sydney wigs. Giant posters of Jack and blue-wig Taipei Sydney in background)

George Pennachio: This woman loves Alias. In fact, dozens of fans wore their free Alias wigs as if it were…well, normal. And that includes the men

(Close up of someone holding a copy of the book.)

George Pennachio: They’re all here to get Alias: Declassified signed for their collections.

(Girl from New Jersey holds up white underwear out of her purse.)

George Pennachio: Sorry, no underwear signing allowed.

(Massive media coverage panning to Jennifer Garner at a microphone addresses the crowd, with Kevin Weisman behind her.)

George Pennachio: Not even if you travel all the way from New Jersey just for this.

Jennifer Garner: (faintly, in background) Thank you so much for….

(Girl from New Jersey in Crowd)

Tsening Phame (Girl from New Jersey): It was worth the 4 figures to come out here for the day, yes it was. (Laughs) While, everyone’s snickering.

(The cast entering Barnes & Noble…Jennifer Garner is jumping up and down and waving hysterically)

George Pennachio: The cast arrived to the cheers of the crowd.

(Book signing line, side view of Vartan, Garner and Rifkin)

George Pennachio: And one by one, they smiled and signed for the fans who’ve made their show a hit.

(Vartan with mic in signing line)

Michael Vartan: This is fun, though, you know. It’s actually the first time you actually get to see the people that actually watch the show. ‘Cause, you know, when we make our show in Burbank, you never get the sense that you’re working for anyone, and these are the people who watch our show. It’s pretty cool.

(Large group of fans crowding a mic and screaming)

(J.J Abrams standing by a group of shelves, with Victor Garber and Carl Lumbly in background milling about)

J.J. Abrams: I think the great thing about the book, for those who watch the show, is they get to see, sort of, some of the crew who makes the show. We have an amazing crew.

(Jennifer Garner by shelves, completely hyper and bouncy and animated)

Jennifer Garner: It is exciting, isn’t it? Shall we see? (Holds book up to her face with a silly look, so the half on the cover matches up with the other half of her face. Reporter can be heard laughing.) Isn’t that cool?

Reporter: It is cool.

(Shot of elementary school yearbook, with a finger pointing to Jennifer Garner’s third grade picture.)

George Pennachio: And isn’t this cool. That’s Jennifer Garner in third grade.

(Shot of another page in the yearbook, finger pointing to picture of former classmate who brought the yearbook.)

George Pennachio: Her old classmate, Kitty Carr, brought the old yearbook with her.

(Jennifer Garner shaking hands with Kitty Carr in book signing line.)

George Pennachio: Kitty also enjoyed a little reunion with her old friend.

(Back to ABC 7 Studio. George Pennachio with copy of book, showing DVD)

George Pennachio: The book also includes some kind of Alias DVD on the back cover. Naturally, it’s under wraps, so you have to buy it if you want to know what’s inside. That’s tonight’s Hollywood Wrap.

(Shot of ABC Newscasters from side: George Pennachio, Marc Brown, Michelle Tuzee, and Rob Fukazaki (Sports).)

Marc Brown: Don’t you know somebody’s going to show up with a yearbook? (Newscasters laugh) Everytime I go somewhere, there’s somebody with a yearbook...
