'Alias' Producer Thrilled Over Pick Up

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - J.J. Abrams was understandably relieved Tuesday when ABC announced that it would be picking up his spy series "Alias" for the rest of the season.

"The cast and crew has been working beyond overtime to produce these episodes," Abrams tells Zap2it.com. "We're all thrilled at the commitment ABC has made to 'Alias' and can't wait to continue to exhaust ourselves."

Heading into November sweeps, the spy series, starring Jennifer Garner, Victor Garber and Michael Vartan, will feature a number of upcoming guests including Elaine Kagan ("Traffic"), Miguel Sandoval ("Get Shorty") and the return of Edward Atterton, who played Sydney Bristow's fiancé in the show's first episode, before being promptly killed.

As a side note, fans of Abrams other series, The WB's "Felicity," may recognize Kagan as Felicity's (Kerri Russell) art teacher Prof. Morton last season in the episode "One Ball, Two Strikes."
